About This Project:

## New Bay Window & Double Hung Windows Installation⏎ Salem, MA

### A Window Upgrade in Salem, MA That Made a Big Difference

Double Hung Windows in Salem, This Salem, MA home had an old, drafty bay window
on the first floor. Meanwhile, the second floor had a large, inefficient picture
window flanked by two double hung windows. As a result, the home felt uncomfortable
year-round. Because of this, the homeowners noticed higher energy bills and cold
spots in the winter. Therefore, they knew it was time to act.

### Poor Performance That Affected Comfort Year-Round

The first-floor bay window allowed cold drafts to enter during winter. In fact,
the seals were cracked and loose. Furthermore, the upstairs windows barely opened
and trapped warm air inside. During summer, heat built up quickly and made sleeping
difficult. However, the problems weren’t just functional—they affected the home’s
look as well. Clearly, an upgrade was long overdue.

### A Plan for Energy Efficiency and Ventilation

Fortunately, the homeowners contacted Coastal Windows & Exteriors for expert advice.
During our visit, we reviewed every concern in detail. Then, we recommended new
energy efficient [replacement windows](https://mycoastalwindows.com/windows/) for
the entire setup. Moreover, we suggested replacing the second-floor window layout
with three double hung windows. This would provide better airflow and allow easier
cleaning. Additionally, the new setup would create a more balanced appearance.

### New Windows That Solve Old Problems

First, we removed the old bay and picture windows carefully to avoid damage. After
that, we installed a new [energy efficient](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_I0yLORzZ4)
bay window with insulated frames. Next, we added three new double hung windows upstairs.
These provide smooth operation and excellent ventilation. In addition, all windows
were sealed tightly to prevent heat loss. As a result, both floors became more comfortable
almost immediately.

### Results That Improve Comfort and Curb Appeal

Now, the home stays warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. Because the drafts
are gone, energy usage has dropped. Also, the new windows open easily, which allows
more fresh air into the home. Furthermore, the modern design improves the home’s
appearance inside and out. Most importantly, the homeowners feel confident their
investment will last.

### Why These Window Replacements Made an Impact

**Better Airflow:** Three double hung windows bring in fresh air from both sashes.
**
Year-Round Efficiency:** New windows reduce energy waste and utility costs.**Improved
Comfort:** No more drafts, hot spots, or noisy window operation.**Curb Appeal:**
Clean, symmetrical window design enhances the entire home.

In conclusion, this Salem, MA window project replaced outdated units with energy-
efficient, easy-to-use solutions. Therefore, the homeowners now enjoy better airflow,
lower energy costs, and improved comfort every day.
