BEVERLY, MA — November 21, 2024 – Coastal Windows & Exteriors proudly continues its 9th annual Freedom from Want Thanksgiving campaign by doubling its food donations to serve more local families. This year, the Beverly-based woman-owned remodeling company will donate 50 turkeys and 25 Thanksgiving fixin’ bags to North Shore residents, in partnership with The Open Door and Beverly Bootstraps.
🍽️ Meeting Rising Food Insecurity with Action
Inspired by Norman Rockwell’s Freedom from Want, the campaign reflects Coastal’s mission to give back—especially during times of rising need. In 2024, The Open Door Food Pantry reported a sharp rise in food assistance requests, showing a growing crisis in food access.
“We’re giving on behalf of our October and November customers,” says owner Stephanie Vanderbilt.
“It’s our way of thanking them while supporting families who need help this holiday season.”
Each year, Coastal purchases the turkeys from Henry’s Market and donates them to The Open Door. The 25 Thanksgiving food bags—packed with essentials—go to Beverly Bootstraps, with insulated bags donated by Henry’s Market.
🤝 Community Partners Step Up to Help
“We’re proud to partner again with our friends at Coastal Windows & Exteriors,” says Mike Halle, Operations Manager at Henry’s Market.
“The rising cost of living has deepened food insecurity. Stephanie’s team always finds meaningful ways to help. We’re glad to support them.”
Julie LaFontaine, CEO of The Open Door, emphasized the emotional value of the donation:
“Thanksgiving is about more than food. It’s about memories and joy.
We’re grateful for Coastal’s support, which keeps traditions alive for struggling families.”
Sue Gabriel, Executive Director of Beverly Bootstraps, added:
“Coastal’s generosity makes a big impact. We’re thankful for their ongoing support of Fixin’s for the Feast.”
Coastal tags each turkey with a donor’s name and a Rockwell-themed image to honor its customers and bring the message of giving full circle.
🇺🇸 Rooted in Service: Veterans and Community First
The Four Freedoms—originally stated by President Franklin D. Roosevelt—include Freedom from Want, which represents access to basic needs like food, shelter, and warmth. Coastal embraces this vision across all its community work.
In recent weeks, the company sponsored two major events:
Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce Veterans Recognition Breakfast
North Shore Chamber’s Salute to Veterans Breakfast
These events honored military service and aligned with Coastal’s Roofs for Heroes initiative, which donates free GAF roofing systems to local veterans in need.
“As housing, food, and heating costs rise, we step up to protect our veterans,” says Vanderbilt.
“You protect our country—we protect your home.”
🏆 Award-Winning Leadership in Giving
In 2024, the U.S. Small Business Administration named Stephanie Vanderbilt the Massachusetts Small Business Person of the Year. Her creativity, resilience, and deep community service have driven both the company’s growth and its mission to give back.
🌨️ Preparing Homes for a Cold Winter
As the Farmers’ Almanac predicts a cold, wet, snowy winter, Coastal encourages homeowners to weatherproof with energy-efficient windows, doors, siding, and roofing. Coastal now also offers solar-integrated roofing systems, helping reduce energy bills while keeping homes warm.
