Featured in North Shore Chamber of Commerce Community News: Coastal Windows & Exteriors donates Thanksgiving turkeys, fixings to North Shore residents in need through Beverly Bootstraps and Open Door food pantry

Coastal Windows & Exteriors is proudly carrying on its Freedom from Want tradition this Thanksgiving by donating 25 turkeys and 25 food bags to local North Shore residents in need. This campaign is inspired by Norman Rockwell’s “Freedom from Want” painting and supports the company’s ongoing mission to give back to the community. The 25 Thanksgiving food bags were donated to Beverly Bootstraps, which provides critical resources to families and individuals so they may achieve self-sufficiency. Each bag included staple items that families can use for their Thanksgiving Day meal. Henry’s Market of Beverly generously donated the insulated bags for this initiative.

Coastal Windows has been supporting Beverly Bootstraps for so many years. We are grateful for their contribution of Fixin’s for the Feast,” says executive director Sue Gabriel. “Their efforts will make so many families happy on Thanksgiving.”

The turkeys, totaling 800 pounds, were purchased from Henry’s Market and donated to The Open Door food pantry of Gloucester, which works to alleviate the impact of hunger in the community, using practical strategies to connect people to good food, to advocate on behalf of those in need, and to engage others in the work of building food security.

BEVERLY, MA — Coastal Windows & Exteriors is proudly carrying on its Freedom from Want tradition by donating 25 turkeys and 25 Thanksgiving food bags to local North Shore residents in need. This campaign is inspired by Norman Rockwell’s ‘Freedom from Want’, supporting the company’s ongoing mission to give back to the community.

“We deeply appreciate the trust that so many North Shore homeowners have placed in us to protect and secure their most important investment, their homes,” says Vanderbilt. “In response to that trust, we’ve made it part of our mission to give back to the communities we serve in whatever way possible. This Thanksgiving, we’re doing so on behalf of our current November customers, which makes the gesture even more fulfilling.”

The 25 Thanksgiving food bags are donated to Beverly Bootstraps. Each of the 25 food bags includes staple items that families can use for their Thanksgiving Day meal. Henry’s Market generously donated the insulated bags for this initiative. Beverly Bootstraps provides critical resources to families and individuals so they may achieve self-sufficiency.

“Coastal Windows has been supporting Beverly Bootstraps for so many years. We are grateful for their contribution of Fixin’s for the Feast,” said Sue Gabriel, Executive Director Beverly Bootstraps. Their efforts will make so many families happy on Thanksgiving.”

The Thanksgiving turkeys are purchased from Henry’s Market by Coastal Windows & Exteriors and donated to The Open Door. The mission of The Open Door is to alleviate the impact of hunger in our community, using practical strategies to connect people to good food, to advocate on behalf of those in need, and to engage others in the work of building food security.

“Henry’s Market is excited to once again have the opportunity to partner up  this holiday season with our good friends at Coastal Windows & Exteriors,” says Mike Halle, Operations Manager at Henry’s Market. The challenges brought forth by the increased cost of living have caused a dramatic increase in food insecurity throughout the North Shore. Stephanie and her team make it a priority to creatively find ways to assist people in need, and we’re proudly here to help lend support in that noble cause.”

Inspired by the famous Norman Rockwell’s Freedom From Want we recreated this image with our Coastal Family with the focus on feeding those in need this Thanksgiving… Give Thanks – Give Back. The turkeys are tagged with the donor’s name on behalf of Coastal’s November customers and the fixin’ bags are adorned with the Rockwell themed flyer.  Thanksgiving meal donations came to a total of 800 pounds for this initiative.

The Four Freedoms were initially articulated by President Franklin D. Roosevelt with the Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Worship, Freedom from Want and Freedom from Fear. Freedom from Want means to be in a situation where no one should have to worry about basic needs and comfort in life, ranging from a roof over your head and ability to afford energy bills to a hot Thanksgiving Day turkey dinner on your table.

“The turkeys generously donated by Coastal Windows & Exteriors will be the star of the Thanksgiving table for many local families this year,” The Open Door President and CEO Julie LaFontaine said. “Their annual tradition of donating turkeys demonstrates the power of a community coming together to make sure there is ‘freedom from want’ at the holidays.”

Exterior Remodeling Company Attends 2nd Annual NSC Salute to Veterans Breakfast as Honoree

Presented by the North Shore Chamber of Commerce, Coastal Windows & Exteriors is named the proud honoree of the 2022 Minuteman Service Award. Launched in 2021, the Minuteman Service Award recognizes “remarkable acts of selfless dedication and outstanding leadership to the nation on behalf of active-duty military or veterans.”

Coastal Windows & Exteriors was selected as an honoree for their Roofs for Heroes initiative. Originating at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the mission is to give away free roofs to local veterans who’ve bravely protected our country. The roof is donated at no cost to the veteran, and protects what matters most with a sound roof over their heads.

Karen Andreas, President and CEO of the North Shore Chamber, said that “Coastal Windows is a shining example of a local business that gives back to its community.  Coastal Windows is truly deserving of this prestigious award for their outstanding work the company does on behalf of veterans,” Andreas said.

The first winner this year is Navy Veteran Robert Moreau, of Salisbury, MA. Mr. Moreau climbs a ladder to repair his home’s 20 year old roof and seals leaks with tar. His roof will be replaced with a free Timberline HDZ asphalt roof, with labor and materials supplied by Coastal Windows & Exteriors this Fall.

“This is unbelievable! I’ve never heard of a company taking care of veterans like this before.  This is way more than giving a loaf of bread—this is a big deal! It’s so needed and I am really excited.    I am very appreciative of Coastal for providing me with a new roof.  I had looked at replacing my roof but I was never going to be able to afford the cost.  I am just blown away they are doing this for me.” said Moreau upon receiving the news that he’d won from Coastal owner, Stephanie Vanderbilt.

During the event, Sergeant Ryan Pitts, a Medal of Honor Recipient, gave an inspiring speech demonstrating his passion and tenacity. His extraordinary heroism and selflessness showcases how true greatness consists in being great in little things. Sgt. Pitts presented Stephanie Vanderbilt, owner of Coastal Windows & Exteriors, with a military coin. This is a coin tradition that spans over a century, which instills pride and rewards hard work and excellence. Coastal Windows & Exteriors is honored to be a part of this tradition and thanks Sgt. Pitts for his bravery, courage and sacrifice.

Roof for Heroes is a promise to the community from Coastal Windows & Exteriors. The company promises to protect the homes of those who’ve protected our country. That’s why we happily donate free roofs to our community’s veterans. The company proudly stands behind GAF’s roofing, a seven-layer roofing system that makes homes feel more comfortable and energy efficient.

Last year, Coastal Windows & Exteriors donated a GAF roofing system to local disabled veteran Vincent Gunning. This was a Habitat for Humanity North Shore project where Coastal Windows & Exteriors installed a free GAF Timberline HDZ asphalt roof on Gunning’s home. Since 2011, Coastal Windows & Exteriors has donated $200,000 to Habitat for Humanity, which includes assisting local veterans.

GAF roofs are made with top-quality and award-winning materials, engineered to protect the home from ice dams and leaks all year. As Master Elite Certified roofing contractors, our roofs are specifically designed to prevent costly roof rot, prevent leaks or ice dams, and stop mold and mildew growth. GAF Roofing systems come with a 25-year workmanship warranty and a lifetime shingle warranty lasting 50 years.

“As our nation struggles to afford housing, heat, food on the table & a roof over one’s head, we started our Roof For Heroes program with the mission: you protect our country, we protect your home,” says Stephanie Vanderbilt, Owner of Coastal Windows & Exteriors. “It’s time to protect what matters most! Especially with the forecasted cold winter, excessive snowfall and extreme energy rate hikes. Protecting What Matters Most is our way of saying thank you to those who serve and have served.”

US military and veterans can now take advantage of GAF’s Roofs for Troops $750 rebate. This rebate applies to all military for installing a new GAF roofing system, plus 50% off installation OR 0% financing for 5 years on roofing, siding, windows, and entry doors. US veterans and active military can contact Coastal Windows & Exteriors to take advantage of this special offer.
