About This Project: Durable Vinyl Clapboard Siding in Driftwood

Vinyl Siding Installation in Salem, MA

The homeowner noticed troubling signs of water infiltration, which is often indicative of siding installation failures. These signs included peeling interior paint, warped or swollen panels, mold growth on the exterior and interior walls, and visible deterioration of the siding itself.

To correct the water damage, we began by tearing off the existing vinyl siding and underlayments on the affected side of the house. We conducted a thorough inspection of the sheathing and checked the window flashing, installing new flashing where necessary to prevent future leaks.

Bringing a robust defense against water damage, a new barricade home wrap and 1/2” progressive pro fold Neopor foam with a thermal layer were installed. Maintenance-free vinyl siding offers superior moisture resistance and insulating properties. The home was then re-sided with Premium Pointe D4 clapboard siding in driftwood, known for its durability and aesthetic appeal.

Frequently Asked Questions About Vinyl Siding in Salem, MA

What are the benefits of choosing vinyl siding for my home?

Vinyl siding is a maintenance-free option that provides the look of wood without the hassle of constant upkeep. It’s designed to withstand the elements, making it a durable choice for homes in New England and other regions with harsh weather conditions. Vinyl siding is weather resistant, won’t rot, and even won’t fade in the sun thanks to ChromaTrue technology.

Can vinyl siding improve my home’s energy efficiency?

Yes, when installed with a siding insulation board, vinyl siding improves your home’s thermal envelope. According to the Vinyl Siding Institute, insulated vinyl siding can improve the R-value of the wall system (a measure of thermal resistance) depending on the type and thickness of the insulation used in the siding.

The insulation helps reduce heat loss in the winter and keeps your home cooler in the summer, leading to lower energy bills.

What styles of vinyl siding are available?

There are several styles of vinyl siding available, including exterior wood look vinyl siding, as well as weathered vinyl cedar shake siding. These products come in various colors and textures, allowing homeowners to achieve a beautiful exterior wood look with vinyl siding.
