Coastal Windows & Exteriors Announces FREE ROOF Donation to Local Veteran, Serves as Friend Sponsor at the Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce Annual Veterans Breakfast Recognition Program
Exterior Remodeling Company Supports Military with FREE Roof, Sponsorships, Donations & More
LAWERENCE, MA — Coastal Windows & Exteriors recently served as a proud sponsor at The Annual Merrimack Valley Chamber Of Commerce Veterans Recognition Free Breakfast Program. The goal of the program is to celebrate and recognize the service of our great country’s veterans. Coastal Windows & Exteriors actively supports the military in a number of ways, including its Roofs for Heroes initiative. At the veterans breakfast, Coastal Windows & Exteriors announced the winner of the initiative.
Coastal Windows & Exteriors wants to help our veterans protect what matters most with a sound roof over their heads. The Roofs for Heroes program was launched during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic. This program helps American heroes improve their homes with a new GAF roofing system at no cost. The donated product is a GAF Timberline HDZ asphalt roof with labor and materials supplied by Coastal Windows & Exteriors. This year, our first winner of the initiative is Navy Veteran Robert Moreau, of Salisbury, MA. His roof is over 20 years old and has been climbing a ladder to maintain and seal leaks with tar, etc. He will no longer need to do this as Coastal is a Master Elite GAF contractor offering 25 years labor workmanship warranty and transferable lifetime warranty on the shingles.
“This is unbelievable! I’ve never heard of a company taking care of veterans like this before. This is way more than giving a loaf of bread—this is a big deal! It’s so needed and I am really excited,” said Moreau upon receiving the news that he’d won from Coastal owner, Stephanie Vanderbilt.

Coastal works with GAF’s Affordable Housing Reroof Program, which partners with local 501 (c)(3) non profit organizations to help those in need of roof replacement. The Veterans Legacy Initiative, based in Newburyport, MA, is a nonprofit charitable organization founded by Charlene Dolan to give World War II veterans like her father, Charles Dolan, a regular opportunity to socialize, offer financial assistance, providing new flag-holders for veteran graves, and numerous other efforts that have pulled veterans out of emergency situations.
“It’s great to partner with Coastal, who cares about the community and the veteran population. It’s good to see nice things like this happening for our veterans,” said Jeremiah Murphy, Veterans Service Officer of Salisbury & Newburyport.
Hosted at Salvatore’s River Walk, the Veterans Breakfast featured a panel consisting of Marine Corps Veteran John Howard, President/CEO of Merrimack Valley Credit Union, Navy Seal Veteran Salvatore Defranco, Co-Owner, Battle Grounds Coffee Co., and Marine Corps Veteran Cal Williams, Merrimack Valley Director of the United Way.
“Now is the time to protect Moreau’s home, as the forecasts are predicting frigid temps and excessive snowfall. To top it off, energy rates increased November 1, 2022 up to 75%, which is going to result in excessive heating bills. Coastal’s Roof For Heroes mission is to provide comfort and safety with a gift of a free roof couldn’t have come at a better time preparing the roof recipients home for winter,” said Stephanie Vanderbilt, owner of Coastal Windows & Exteriors.

“The Merrimack Valley Chamber would like to thank Coastal Windows & Exteriors for their support of the veteran community. Not only did they step up as a friend sponsor to help us put on this program, but they also donated a roof to a local veteran. Coastal Windows & Exteriors continuously shows their commitment to our veteran community, and we want to say thank you!” said Michael Bevilacqua, Vice President of Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce.
“At Coastal, we protect what matters most, not only through our energy-efficient products, but serving our communities in which we work. Our mission at Coastal Windows & Exteriors aligns with GAF’s Community Contractor Initiative, helping homeowners maintain their homes and live safely in them with a new roof with a lifetime warranty. Providing shelter means making a promise; a promise of protection and security. Donating a free GAF roofing system is a great way to keep that promise, as its layers of high quality protection work together to keep the home and the people inside safe from the elements. We are excited to continue serving through this initiative to give back to our nation’s heroes, who work hard and sacrifice for the community every day. Our veterans should not suffer; it’s our turn to take care of them. It’s time to give back and count on us,” said Vanderbilt.
In addition to Roofs for Heroes, Coastal Windows & Exteriors offers GAF’s Roofs for Troops $750 rebate for all military when they install a GAF roofing system, plus 50% off installation OR 0% financing for 5 years on roofing, siding, windows, and entry doors. Please contact Coastal Windows & Exteriors to help you take advantage of this offer as a U.S. military veteran.
