About This Project:

Nantucket Blue Vinyl Siding Installation
North Reading, MA

Coastal’s siding and window installers took on an extensive renovation project upgrading this North Reading, MA home with new windows and maintenance free siding that looks like wood. The old siding was outdated and consisted of two layers that were no longer providing adequate insulation or weather protection. The windows were also outdated, detracting from the home’s overall curb appeal and energy efficiency.

With the old condition of the home, the homeowners chose to upgrade with an exterior wood-look vinyl siding. They also replaced old windows with modern window styles for complete home makeovers!

We went to work on a complete overhaul of the home’s exterior. For the siding, the homeowner selected 4-inch reveal Premium Pointe vinyl in a soothing Nantucket color, offering the classic look of wood without maintenance. This high-quality vinyl siding was paired with a 3/4 inch insulation board underneath to enhance the home’s thermal efficiency. White corner trim and matching J-channel were selected to complement the siding and give a polished finish.

We also replaced 20 windows around the property, excluding only two front windows on the front porch. The large window on the back of the house, equivalent in size to two standard windows, was also included in the update. These new energy efficient double-hung windows were chosen for their modern styling and superior energy efficiency. Coming with the lowest draft ratings in the industry, this homeowner can expect energy savings for many years to come!

Frequently Asked Questions About Vinyl Siding and Windows in Beverly, MA

What are the benefits of choosing vinyl siding for my home?

Vinyl siding is a maintenance-free option that provides the look of wood without the hassle of constant upkeep. It’s designed to withstand the elements, making it a durable choice for homes in New England and other regions with harsh weather conditions. Vinyl siding is weather resistant, won’t rot, and even won’t fade in the sun thanks to ChromaTrue technology.

Can vinyl siding improve my home’s energy efficiency?

Yes, when installed with a siding insulation board, vinyl siding improves your home’s thermal envelope. According to the Vinyl Siding Institute, insulated vinyl siding can improve the R-value of the wall system (a measure of thermal resistance) depending on the type and thickness of the insulation used in the siding.

The insulation helps reduce heat loss in the winter and keeps your home cooler in the summer, leading to lower energy bills.

What styles of vinyl siding are available?

There are several styles of vinyl siding available, including exterior wood look vinyl siding, as well as weathered vinyl cedar shake siding. These products come in various colors and textures, allowing homeowners to achieve a beautiful exterior wood look with vinyl siding.

What should I consider when choosing replacement windows?

Consider energy efficiency, durability, and the window’s aesthetic. Look for quality vinyl with energy-efficient features like triple-pane glass to enhance your home’s insulation and curb appeal. Air infiltration ratings (CFM) determine how effective your windows are at blocking drafts. For example, Coastal’s windows are rated .01 CFM, which is the best rating in the window industry!

How do modern window styles enhance home makeovers?

Modern window styles for home makeovers can dramatically change the appearance of your curb appeal. Vinyl replacement windows come in various designs that can enhance both the interior and exterior look of your property. Some of the most popular modern window styles include picture windows and sliding windows.

Are there energy-efficient window options for a complete house upgrade?

Yes, there are multiple energy-efficient window options available, such as double or triple-pane windows that include low-E coatings and inert gas fills. Always look for the Energy Star seal to verify if your windows are energy efficient.
