About This Project: CraneBoard® Vinyl Siding in Greystone, Energy Efficient Replacement Windows in Danvers, MA
In the historic town of Danvers, MA, a homeowner approached us with the vision to completely renovate the exterior of their aging home. The old horizontal wood siding was dated and lacked the energy efficiency needed for our New England climate. They wanted a modern makeover that would bring their dream home to life and improve the home’s insulation.
We removed the outdated wood siding and replacing it with high-performance, exterior wood-looking vinyl siding. The selected T6 CraneBoard® in Greystone was chosen for its excellent insulation properties and a stunning aesthetic. Alongside the siding overhaul, we also updated several key features around the home’s exterior while upgrading to energy efficient replacement windows.
As local window and siding installers, we stripped the old siding and prepared the surface for the new installation. We installed the T6 CraneBoard® over the existing T1-11 siding, adding an extra layer of insulation. The front entry was adorned with Atlas Stone around the brick columns, providing a distinguished and welcoming entrance.
The installation included wrapping the existing rakes and eaves and replacing the rear bay window sill for complete weatherproofing. Bay windows make great modern window styles for complete home makeovers!
New soffits were installed around the entire perimeter, and we replaced three gable vents and the existing gutters with new 5” gutters to improve drainage and aesthetics. A water table was installed around the entire perimeter for additional protection and style.
Along with the bay window replacement, we removed and replaced two triple-pane double-hung windows and thirteen triple-pane casement windows, all in white, to enhance the home’s energy efficiency. Triple pane windows offer terrific insulation and sound reduction benefits. The windows came with a lifetime transferable warranty, adding value and peace of mind to this homeowner’s new dream home!

Frequently Asked Questions About Vinyl Siding and Windows in Danvers, MA
What are the advantages of installing vinyl siding in Danvers, MA?
Vinyl siding is durable, low maintenance, and even looks like real wood without the maintenance. Foam insulation board and housewrap further enhance vinyl siding’s performance, keeping your home comfortable while preventing moisture damage.
Can vinyl siding really look like wood?
Yes! Modern vinyl siding comes in various textures and colors that closely resemble real wood. For example, high-quality vinyl siding like T6 CraneBoard® offers a realistic wood appearance but with the benefits of vinyl, such as resistance to rotting, cracking, and warping.
What is Atlas Stone, and how is it used in home exteriors?
Atlas Stone is a type of manufactured stone veneer used to enhance architectural details on exteriors. It’s lightweight and easier to install than natural stone, yet provides a similar aesthetic appeal, making it ideal for accenting entryways, columns, and other focal points.
Why should I consider triple-pane windows?
Triple-pane windows consist of three layers of glass with air or gas-filled spaces in between. This design significantly improves home insulation, reduces noise from outside, and enhances the overall energy efficiency of your home. Upgrading your home from single to triple pane windows can yield energy savings of over $500 each year, according to Energy Star.
How can new windows increase a home’s curb appeal?
New windows can dramatically improve a home’s visual appeal by offering a cleaner, more updated look. With modern window styles and finishes, they can complement any architectural style, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the property.
Are there energy-efficient options for windows and siding?
Both windows and siding are available with energy-saving options. For windows, look for options with low-E coatings and inert gas fills. For cladding, choose products that include siding insulation board, which helps maintain a consistent indoor temperature and reduce energy costs.
What does a full frame window tear-out entail?
A full frame tear-out involves removing the entire window frame and sash and replacing it with a new one. This process is often necessary when the old frame is damaged or when a complete upgrade to a more energy-efficient window system is desired.
How is vinyl siding installed?
Vinyl siding is typically installed over a breathable house wrap that helps prevent moisture accumulation. The siding panels are then attached to the home’s exterior using nails, ensuring each panel is securely fastened and aligned for a uniform appearance. We always strip away old siding, and won’t ever install your new siding on top of the old!
