About This Project: James Hardie® Cedarmill 6.25″ 5″ in Boothbay Blue Plank and Shake in Burlington, MA

This project takes us to the town of Burlington, MA, where a homeowner was looking to bring their dream home to life with new siding installation. The old cedar shake siding was dated, stained, and peeling. As James Hardie® siding installers in Burlington, the homeowners asked us for a complete overhaul.

Hardie® board is renowned for its durability, maintenance-free nature, and ability to mimic the natural beauty of wood. This siding not only enhances curb appeal but also offers superior resistance to weathering and pests, ensuring long-lasting performance in our climate.

Project Timeline

After assessing the old siding during the free estimate, we secured a spot for our popular James Hardie® siding installation for this homeowner. The plan involved removing all existing cedar shake and vinyl siding and replacing it with high-quality James Hardie® products.

This upgrade was designed to provide a beautiful, long-lasting exterior that requires minimal upkeep. It’s one of the very reasons why homeowners choose this material for New England siding!

The transformation began with the careful removal of the old siding, setting the stage for the new, more resilient James Hardie® installation. In addition to siding replacement, the project also included temporarily removing and later reinstalling the gutters to allow for the installation of new trim work.

James Hardie® Siding Installation Process

After the old materials were removed and the home was prepared, the installation of the new James Hardie® siding began. The homeowner picked Hardie®’s popular Boothbay Blue for the main body of the house in cedar mill plank style with a 5-inch reveal. This provided a classic yet modern look.

For a distinct visual contrast and to add architectural interest, the top section of Si2 was covered with 5-inch shake in the same Boothbay Blue, seamlessly integrating different textures within the same color palette.

Trim and Detailing

To complement the new siding, Arctic White James Hardie® trim was installed around all windows, doors, garage doors, and fascia. This trim package also included shadow boards on the rakes only, which helps to highlight the home’s architectural features. A water table was installed around the front steps entryway and the base of the breezeway and garage, providing an elegant transition between the siding and the home’s foundation, enhancing both the functionality and curb appeal.

Final Touches

New white louvered shutters were placed in the existing shutter locations to maintain the home’s traditional aesthetic while updating its look. The gutters were reinstalled after the trim work, with an addition of 148 feet of new white gutters complete with downspouts.
