This fall, when Stephanie Vanderbilt and employees of Coastal Windows & Exteriors, Inc. arrived at Habitat for Humanity’s Grover Street site in Lynn, they came bearing gifts—amazing gifts! Coastal Windows volunteers at Habitat brought with them donations ofof roofing, siding, windows, and doors totaling over $49,000 in value.
In addition, the team brought their energy, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn. Vanderbilt shared how much she gained by working with Habitat for Humanity North Shore. Her employees echoed her excitement and shared their positive experiences on-site.
During the build days, Habitat regulars trained Coastal Windows volunteers at Habitat on a variety of home construction skills. Volunteers learned how to safely operate power tools and install siding with precision. They also discovered how to properly fit and install doors and energy-efficient windows.
Moreover, volunteers helped construct decks, place lally columns, and position stringers in the basement. These lessons empowered the team to truly contribute. Each task became a learning experience that built confidence and deepened community bonds.
The partnership between Coastal Windows volunteers at Habitat and HFHNS showcases how local businesses can support affordable housing in hands-on ways. The collaboration also proves that home improvement professionals never stop learning.
Stephanie Vanderbilt leads by example, blending her expertise with a desire to give back. Because of her dedication, the Grover Street project progressed faster and more smoothly. Clearly, this was more than a workday—it was an investment in people and purpose.
Coastal Windows volunteers at Habitat didn’t just give materials—they gave time, heart, and hands-on help. We look forward to seeing the impact of this partnership grow for seasons to come.
