The veteran, Robert Moreau, is a retired Navy from Salisbury, MA. Year after year, Moreau, ambitious even in his older age, spent time climbing up a ladder to patch his roof with tar to prevent leaks. The use of tar for roofing is not sustainable as it’s made from petroleum and negatively impacts the environment throughout its lifecycle. It also has health hazards giving off toxic fumes, and application limitations.
To make sure that Moreau isn’t risking his safety for the sake of a leaky roof, Coastal Windows & Exteriors partnered with GAF to provide a new roof and labor at no cost. Moreau was chosen with the help of Newburyport-based non-profit initiative, Veterans Legacy, whose mission is to provide socialization opportunities and financial assistance to World War II Veterans.
