Web Press Release Free Roof For Veteran at Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce Annual Veterans Breakfast
LAWRENCE, MA – November 7, 2022 — In a heartfelt tribute to local service members, Coastal Windows & Exteriors proudly announced the recipient of its Roofs for Heroes program during the Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce Annual Veterans Recognition Breakfast. As part of their ongoing commitment to giving back, Coastal donated a free GAF roofing system to Navy veteran Robert Moreau of Salisbury, MA.
Supporting Veterans Through Action
Since launching during the pandemic, the Roofs for Heroes initiative has helped veterans in need by donating complete roofing systems, including installation and materials. This year, the award went to Robert Moreau, whose aging roof required constant upkeep. Thanks to this program, he no longer has to climb ladders to seal leaks.
“This is unbelievable,” said Moreau. “I’ve never heard of a company taking care of veterans like this before. It’s a big deal, and I’m truly excited.”
A Partnership with Purpose
To bring this initiative to life, Coastal Windows & Exteriors partnered with the GAF Affordable Housing Reroof Program. Together, they work with local non-profits, such as the Veterans Legacy Initiative of Newburyport, to make meaningful home improvements for veterans and their families.
In addition, the company continues to donate labor and materials as a certified GAF Master Elite Contractor—a distinction held by only 3% of contractors in the U.S.
“Now is the time to act,” said Stephanie Vanderbilt, Owner of Coastal Windows & Exteriors. “Energy costs are rising, and winter is around the corner. A new roof provides safety, warmth, and peace of mind.”

Honoring Heroes at the Veterans Breakfast
Held at Salvatore’s River Walk, the breakfast featured a panel of distinguished veterans, including:
John Howard, Marine Corps Veteran and CEO of Merrimack Valley Credit Union
Salvatore Defranco, Navy SEAL Veteran and Co-Owner of Battle Grounds Coffee
Cal Williams, Marine Corps Veteran and United Way Director
“It’s wonderful to partner with a company like Coastal that truly cares about veterans,” said Jeremiah Murphy, Veterans Service Officer for Salisbury and Newburyport.
More Than Just a Roof
The donation doesn’t stop at roofing. Coastal also supports programs such as Roofs for Troops, offering a $750 rebate for military members installing a GAF system. Moreover, homeowners can take advantage of 50% off installation or 0% financing for five years on windows, siding, doors, and roofing projects.
“Coastal’s generosity reminds us what community means,” said Michael Bevilacqua, Vice President of the Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce. “They didn’t just sponsor the event—they changed a veteran’s life.”
A Mission That Extends Beyond Business
Vanderbilt shared that Coastal’s mission is more than installing products—it’s about delivering security and comfort to those who need it most.
“Every roof we install represents a promise kept. For our veterans, it’s our turn to serve. Through this donation, we’re not just giving a roof—we’re offering peace of mind,” she said.
