Mold on exterior siding and warped panels are two clues homeowners often miss. Serving 730+ towns across Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine, Coastal Windows & Exteriors is a family-run, woman-owned exterior remodeling company with 7,000+ installations completed since 2011. The early signs of siding water damage often hide for months before you notice.

Signs to Look For Inside and Out

Inside clues: Peeling interior paint, damp drywall, or musty rooms can signal long-term leaks. Get a free estimate this fall.
Outside clues: Warped, loose, or bulging panels often mean moisture sits behind them.
Soft spots: Press near trim and corners. Spongy sheathing points to rot.
Resistant boards: Both vinyl siding and James Hardie fiber cement is water resistant, reducing the impact of moisture.
Weather barrier: HardieWrap keeps water out while letting vapor escape, so walls can dry.

Catching Hidden Moisture This Fall

Top Recommendation: A free fall inspection finds hidden moisture before freeze-thaw season. Book yours today.

Best for Cold Climates: James Hardie HZ5 boards are engineered for cold, wet climates.

Better Barrier: Pairing new siding with HardieWrap helps walls shed water and dry out.
