Coastal Windows & Exteriors Raises the Roof for Homeowner in Need
(Owner of Coastal Windows & Exteriors, David Vanderbilt & homeowner, Charlene Cruz)
BEVERLY, MA — September 14, 2022 — Coastal Windows & Exteriors proudly partnered with Habitat for Humanity Peabody MA to deliver safety, warmth, and dignity to a homeowner in urgent need. This heartfelt project helped restore the home of Charlene Cruz, a lung cancer survivor on disability, living at 5 Sanborn Street in Peabody.
A Complete Home Transformation
Cruz’s home had suffered extensive wear over the years. For example, her roof showed severe deterioration with curling shingles and algae growth. In addition, her deck had rotted, creating a dangerous outdoor space. Furthermore, drafty windows made her home uncomfortable and expensive to heat.
Thanks to Coastal Windows & Exteriors, Charlene received a full exterior home renovation, completely free of charge.
The donation included:
✔️ A GAF Master Elite Lifetime Roofing System
✔️ A 25-year transferable labor warranty
✔️ Lifetime warranty on shingles
✔️ New Energy Star® award-winning Soft-Lite windows
“Without their help, I could not have stayed in my home. I’m so grateful for everything they’ve done. It’s a miracle!” — Charlene Cruz
A Collaborative Effort for Maximum Impact
Prior to the start of the work, Don Preston, President of Habitat for Humanity North Shore, emphasized that this was one of Peabody’s most ambitious projects in 2022. As a result of the collaboration, Habitat was able to secure additional funds through the City of Peabody’s Community Preservation Act, which helped complete the deck and window repairs.
“This is a great example of public, private, and non-profit sectors working together to achieve more than any one could alone,” said Preston.
As a result of this impactful collaboration, it’s clear that when community organizations unite, the entire community benefits.
Community Engagement and Celebration
This build day wasn’t just about repairs—it was a full-fledged celebration of community spirit.
