If you’re anything like me, you’re enjoying the warmer weather, working on your outdoor oasis and eating al fresco. There are so many inspiring summer patio ideas that exude cozy hospitality. Some easy takeaways from each of these spaces can help anyone create a Coastal feel while entertaining (or even when just enjoying a little solo time with a glass of wine out on your patio)!

Tip #1: Twinkling Lights Exude Charm

Hanging lanterns and twinkling lights give off such a casual feel while making the space you’re in feel completely magical. I ordered solar lights from Amazon and can’t wait to put them up this weekend!  I also picked up some galvanized lanterns with battery operated candles at Target.  I love how they light up the porch at night.

Tip #2: Beachy Patio Furniture Creates Casual Vibes

Invest in some sea grass look alike patio furniture. There are so many comfortable styles now that will make your guests just want to sink into your chairs and not move for hours. As a bonus, some are all weather so you won’t need to rush to protect your furniture every time it rains. Then pop over to Home Goods or Pottery Barn for some pillows for a punch of color.  I went with a navy background with this paisley look for my pop!

Tip #3: Embrace the Ocean’s Color Palette

If you are in doubt about what colors to move toward with your new summer patio ideas, look no further than the colors you see at the ocean… use calming blues, greens, tans and grays. A base of calming colors like these can pair well with some pops of color in pillows that can be easily interchanged when your mood changes.

Tip #4: Plan for Chilly Summer Nights

Guests will love sitting around a fire pit on a cool summer night. Bring out s’mores fixings and people will sit around for hours enjoying your hospitality. Here is my favorite tweak on making gourmet s’mores!  I use Petit Écolier chocolate-covered biscuits, slap on some Nutella add a marshmallow and I am a happy girl!

Tip #5: Make a Transitional Flow with French Doors

Homes that flow well often will have a gorgeous transition into the patio like with these French doors. This allows people to sit inside if the weather isn’t perfect yet still allows guests to enjoy the benefits of gorgeous windows and feel like they are outdoors. Besides winning Energy Star Partner of the year awards for energy efficiency, there are some new innovative performance upgrades that can enhance your patio doors in ways you may not have thought possible.
