One of the things we all get jazzed about in the summer is being outside. There is simply nothing like bare feet in the sand or grass. Long, sunny days that brown our skin, warm our hearts and liven up the soul. Turn the music up! It’s summer!

Our homes are extended. Our decks and yards become temporary rooms. We go from our sofa to our chaise on the patio with our romance novel. We go from our dining table to enjoying the moonlight on our deck. Dinner with the stars … ah yes, heaven.

When the chill of fall comes, we put our shoes back on, then begrudgingly add in socks. Open-toed shoes surrender to loafers and boots. The placemats go back on the kitchen table inside and the candles come in.

But, what if we could extend the enjoyment of temporary rooms, give them some sparkle at night when we arrive home in the dark? Perhaps some landscape lighting to remind us how beautiful that birch tree is? Some path lighting to wash the stones we laid in a wandering path? Up lighting some trees that bring our view back out to that room in the yard we love.

Fall is the perfect time to consider landscape lighting. As the summer flowers lay back down and the trees start to lose their leaves, digging around in your garden is a little easier than when it’s in full bloom, especially when you’re adding lighting into an existing landscape.
