Do you love to decorate with fresh perishable greens during the holidays like me? Well did you know they actually have an expiration date? I didn’t…well maybe in February when they remind me they do.
I recently found out that there is a way to prolong their life. This is a GREAT TIP as I wish I read this last year when I made my fresh green gold pear candle centerpiece.
It’s simple…just spray cut foliage with a non-toxic anti-desiccant made with pine-tree resin such as Wilt Stop. You only have to spray it twice during the winter! I love to use winter berries in my decorations so they are a great option for this. Just remember that it is harmful to wildlife if eaten so it’s best to use this for your indoor decorations. Also make sure you don’t bring any unwanted bugs inside from your natural décor from pinecones, etc. Put your oven on 200 degrees and “clean them from bugs” for 45 minutes. Bugs be gone and enjoy your holiday décor!
