Have it re-wired by a professional. Your local hardware or lighting store will often offer repair services. You need your new light to be safe to use in your home!

If you want to make something into a light that is not already a light, you can buy a pre-made cord and socket set to use in your creation. I recommend using an LED light bulb that gives off less heat, especially if you are using fabric or paper.

If you’re having trouble imagining making your own piece or simply don’t have the time to scour yard sales, you can buy a vintage looking piece that is ready to install. They come in all types of colors and shapes!
