freedom from want 2023

BEVERLY, MA — As the season of giving arrives in North Shore, Coastal Windows & Exteriors is proudly carrying on its Freedom from Want tradition by donating turkeys, pies, and Thanksgiving food bags to local residents in need. The 8-year tradition is inspired by Norman Rockwell’s ‘Freedom from Want’, supporting the company’s ongoing mission to warm hearts as well as homes with energy efficient remodeling products.

“We deeply appreciate the trust that so many North Shore homeowners have placed in us to protect and secure their most important investment, their homes,” says Vanderbilt. “In response to that trust, we’ve made it part of our mission to give back to the communities we serve in whatever way possible. This Thanksgiving, we’re doing so on behalf of our customers, which makes the gesture even more fulfilling.”

Stepping up with scrumptious Thanksgiving sides and goodies, Coastal delivered 25 Thanksgiving food bags to Beverly Bootstraps. Totaling to 325 pounds for all bags combined, each of the food bags includes staple items that families can use for their Thanksgiving Day meal. Henry’s Market generously donated the insulated bags for this initiative.

“Coastal Windows has been supporting Beverly Bootstraps for so many years. We are grateful for their contribution of Fixin’s for the Feast,” said Sue Gabriel, Executive Director Beverly Bootstraps. Their efforts will make so many families happy on Thanksgiving.” Beverly Bootstraps provides critical resources to families and individuals so they may achieve self-sufficiency.

Rounding out the feasts for North Shore families, Coastal purchased Thanksgiving turkeys from Henry’s Market by Coastal Windows & Exteriors and donated to The Open Door. This news comes alongside The Open Door’s new Food and Nutrition Center on Emerson Avenue unveiling. The mission of The Open Door is to alleviate the impact of hunger in our community, using practical strategies to connect people to good food, to advocate on behalf of those in need, and to engage others in the work of building food security.

“Henry’s Market is excited to once again have the opportunity to partner up this holiday season with our good friends at Coastal Windows & Exteriors,” says Mike Halle, Operations Manager at Henry’s Market. The challenges brought forth by the increased cost of living have caused a dramatic increase in food insecurity throughout the North Shore. Stephanie and her team make it a priority to creatively find ways to assist people in need, and we’re proudly here to help lend support in that noble cause.”

Each year, the Coastal team recreates the Normal Rockwell-inspired image with the current Coastal Family, focusing on feeding those in need this Thanksgiving to Give Thanks and Give Back. The turkeys are tagged with the donor’s name on behalf of Coastal’s customers, while the fixin’ bags come decorated with the Rockwell themed flyer. The Thanksgiving meal donations came to a total of 950 pounds for this initiative.

Coastal’s Freedom from Want tradition has deep roots in the United States history. The Four Freedoms were initially articulated by President Franklin D. Roosevelt with the Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Worship, Freedom from Want and Freedom from Fear. Freedom from Want means being in a situation where no one should have to worry about basic needs and comfort in life, ranging from a roof over your head and the ability to afford energy bills to a hot Thanksgiving Day turkey dinner on your table. With this Thanksgiving feast donation, Coastal can warm hearts while warming homes with energy efficient roofing, siding, windows and doors.

“In an annual tradition, Coastal Windows and Exteriors has generously donated turkeys ahead of Thanksgiving to help set the table for people right here in our community who need a little extra help,” President and CEO Julie LaFontaine said. “Their kindness ensures that families can make special holiday memories around their tables at home to last a lifetime. It’s a big job, but together we are bigger.”

Caring for the community is a major mission for Coastal. Recently, the award-winning exterior remodeling company provided two local U.S. veterans with free roofs through their Roofs for Heroes initiative. Roofs for Heroes helps fulfill the empathetic vision of protecting those who protect our country.

Coastal Windows & Exteriors further supports the community by offering energy efficient windows, doors, roofing, and siding. Energy rates are skyrocketing in New England, with heating oil prices averaging 75% higher in comparison to last year. With insulated and energy efficient products, all North Shore homeowners can enjoy increased indoor comfort this season and beyond.
