5 Steps to Making Your Cozy Christmas Village Luminary
Step 1: Download these patterns and print them onto computer paper.
Step 2: Cut out the windows and doors, preferably with an Exacto knife
Step 3: Tape them together by folding them into a tube with a slight overlap. Do not crease.
Step 4: Add a battery-operated light source such as a tea light or fairy lights.
Step 5: Display near your favorite window!
Displaying Your Luminary Village in a Window
Your new Christmas village luminaries will add a new level of coziness to your home. It doesn’t get much cozier than seeing a warm glow in a window on a cold winter night.
Some of the best windows for displaying your Christmas village includes:
- Bay windows, which are three-dimensional windows with two operable windows on each side. Bay windows have a large picture window at the center along with an interior window seat or display area, making them the perfect place for the world to see your village.
- Bow windows, similar to bay windows, these windows are constructed of 4 to 6 panels of individual windows such as double hung or casement windows. You can place a table near this window to serve as a display area.
- Picture windows, constructed of a single pane of glass. These windows offer an excellent source of natural light as well as an area for displaying decor.
- Slider windows, constructed of an operable sash that slides open for ventilation. Similar to picture windows, slider windows offer an expansive view of the outdoors.
Get creative when arranging your Christmas village luminaries. Use fake snow with glitter for a touch of sparkle and small figurines to create a Christmasy and cohesive look.
Always Use Battery-Operated Light Sources for Safety!
We highly recommend battery-operated light sources for your Christmas village luminaries project as well as other holiday craft items. Choose fire-resistant exterior materials for your house. For example, asphalt shingles are Class-A fire-resistant. They can last for 2 hours before they burn from a house fire.
Vinyl siding and vinyl windows are also fire resistant. Since they’re constructed from PVC and a chlorine base, they do not ignite quickly. In fact, PVC materials can help slow the spread of house fires.
