As the final section of our Happy Customer Testimonial Series, we’re featuring three entry door reviews in MA by a few fantastic customers. The first entry door review we’re featuring is from John W. in Millis, MA:
The Importance of Working with an Insured Door Installer
The first note that John mentioned was that our team presented our licensing and insurance information. This might sound like a small detail, but it’s something you don’t want to overlook when it comes to door installation.
What you should know about insured door installation contractors:
- There are two types of insurances—liability and workers’ compensation.
- Liability insurance is necessary for covering property damage or injuries caused by the contractor’s work.
- With workers’ compensation, this insurance provides payment to an injured worker without regard to who is at fault for the accident.
- Working with uninsured contractors can leave you paying for damages out of pocket, whether it’s for human injury or damaged property.
Here are a few tips on how you can be sure that you hire an insured entry door contractor:
- Ask to see insurance verification. With Coastal Windows & Exteriors, we present this information immediately to the homeowner.
- Call the insurance company listed to verify for extra peace of mind.
- Keep a copy of all paperwork in case you need to reference it later. This can help in the event of an accident while ensuring that you won’t have to pay out of pocket.
Fast and Flawless Door Installation
You heard it from John himself—our door installation is flawless and helps maximize the door’s performance. The company before Coastal Windows & Exteriors did a poor job at installing the original door, and we were happy to help correct the issues that the other installers left behind.
What to expect with quality door installation:
- A straight door panel. If you step back to look at your new entry door and it’s crooked, the problem might be the panel. Your entry door should be plum inside the frame. Other culprits that cause the entry door to be off-centered include loose screws and hinges or even a cracked door frame.
- Effortless operation. If the door is incorrectly installed, you might find that the door is tough to open or even opens too easily. A properly installed door should open and close with ease without making excess sounds (squeaking, creaking). Doors that are difficult to operate are inconvenient to homeowners, but can also pose a security risk if the locking mechanisms aren’t latching properly.
- Airtight seal around the frames. Your new entry door is an entry point for friends and family—not uncomfortable drafts from outdoors. If you feel drafts coming from around the door frame, it’s a red flag that the door was improperly installed. Even a ⅛-inch gap under an entry door can allow as much air in as a 2.4” hole punched in the wall. This directly results in increased energy bills. We use Q-Lon weatherstripping that connects with a Q-Lon corner seal, providing exceptional insulation against the elements while blocking out drafts.
