Cozy Christmas Mantel Styling: Simple, Warm, and Elegant
I’m not sure if there is anything more cozy than a fire going, a comfy armchair and a great warm throw. This classic Christmas mantel was layered with just a few pieces and would be easy for anyone to recreate.Â
Â
Step 1: Add Height and a Focal Point
First, place tall objects at the back of your mantel. I used birch vase surrounds, but any tall vases will work. Leave them empty or fill them with fresh greens or long-lasting flowers. Lilies are a great option!
Alternatively, use a vertical holiday artwork—like this vintage-style reindeer print found here.

Second step:
Add a garland or greens in front of your vases. I used a faux garland from Joann Fabrics. You can always layer in real greens to make the greenery look more substantial. This works well if you have a roomier mantel. It’s also a good idea if you used a piece of artwork that doesn’t take up much space.

Third step:
Next, add some mood lighting to create a warm and welcoming glow. For example, five candles placed throughout the greenery will bring soft ambiance when lit and also help break up the visual heaviness of the greens. Surprisingly, these candles came from the Dollar Tree, proving that beautiful decor doesn’t require a big budget. In addition, I layered in some big-bulbed white string lights to enhance the overall warmth and charm of the display. As a result, the lighting adds depth and sparkle, making your mantel both festive and inviting.

Fourth Step:
Fill in the blank areas. If you have a Christmas bin bring up a bunch of options from it for filling in the blanks on your mantel. Use a trial and error method to decide what you like best. I put mini trees from Restoration Hardware on each end of the mantle. Then, I added pine cones and a few large ornaments into the greenery.
