About This Project:

James Hardie® Cedarmill Siding Installation
Light Mist

Our team at Coastal Windows & Exteriors worked on an exciting exterior renovation project for a Tudor home located in Marblehead, MA. During the free estimate, we discovered that this home had old, drafty, and inefficient windows with noticeable blemishes. Even more noticeable was the outdated siding that faded, cracked, and peeling.

Like many homeowners who contact us, there was a concern about energy loss and an outdated curb appeal. The poor condition of the windows made the home uncomfortable and drafty. Meanwhile, the siding was no longer properly protecting this home from the elements.

The homeowner decided to fix these problems with the help of James Hardie® siding installation and new window replacement. We started by stripping the existing materials, including the Tudor/stucco portions, and thoroughly inspecting the underlying structures for any signs of rot, repairing as needed.

We then planned to wrap the home with a breathable HardieWrap®, followed by installing 5,100 sq ft of James Hardie Cedar Mill 6.25” Hardie® board with a 5” exposure in Light Mist. Additionally, 100 sq ft of James Hardie Straight Edge Shingle in Light Mist would accent the top portion above the lineal trim. The existing soffit and fascia boards were replaced with James Hardie Smooth Vented Soffit and White Fascia boards.

All windows and doors would be trimmed with James Hardie Arctic White trim, and white PVC water tables would be installed at strategic points to enhance water management. New white gutters would replace the old ones, maintaining their original

This Marblehead home now features classic double-hung windows, clear glass with no grids and white interiors and exteriors. The twin double-hung windows created from the former sliding door area provided a fresh, symmetrical look that greatly improved the rear facade’s appearance. These windows have the lowest CFM ratings in the industry, meaning they are outstanding at reducing drafts and saving on energy.

The James Hardie® siding in Light Mist beautifully refreshed the home’s exterior, while the Arctic White trim and accents gave it a crisp, clean finish. As James Hardie® Master Elite contractors, we brought this dream home to life with the power of beautiful siding installation and energy efficient replacement windows!
