There’s no doubt about it—vinyl siding replacement is the most powerful way to transform the home and dramatically increase curb appeal. As part III of our Happy Customer series, we’re exploring three reviews we’ve received for vinyl siding in MA and other areas of New England.

This is the first review of our series for our vinyl siding installation services from Ronald M.:

This is review is short and sweet, but it speaks volumes in terms of the professionalism and skills of our vinyl siding installation team.

Quality Vinyl Installation is in the Details

When it comes to vinyl siding replacement, installation is not an area to cut corners. Our installers are up-to-date on the best techniques for siding installation in the industry. There are many small details that come together to ensure a quality job, such as clearance openings between panels.

For example, one of the factors that impact clearance is the outside temperature when the siding is installed.

  • Installing in less-than-ideal temperatures can cause siding to become brittle during installation and compromise its quality.
  • One major issue that arises during cold weather installation is expansion and contraction. The panels must properly expand and contract for flexible installation, and if it’s nailed too tight it can cause bucking on hot days.
  • Vinyl siding is sensitive to cold weather during installation and it’s best to install the siding at temperatures above 40 degrees Fahrenheit. This ensures that the siding is not nailed too tightly or loosely, which causes the siding to rattle in the wind.

If your siding contractor is missing these small details, it jeopardizes the lifespan and performance of your siding.

Why is Professional Siding Installation so Important?

Coastal Windows & Exteriors uses top-of-the-line siding products and combines it with expert installation. To give New England homeowners our best work possible, we provide the following:

Reason #1: During installation, vinyl siding must be overlapped by 1 inch wherever they need, which results in seams. Thicker vinyl creates thicker seams. Many homeowners do not like seams showing with the siding as it looks untidy. The key is to use long panel lengths (16’8”), while the installation team orients overlaps in areas of the home that are less visible.

Reason #2: By using corrosion-resistant nails, it’s less likely that the nails will rust from exposure to salt water.  It’s important to use the correct nail finish, especially for coastal homes. Incorrect nail finishes can lead to rusting that will loosen the siding from the home.  Once the siding is loosened, it can blow away and expose the exterior that can result in damage.

Reason #3: By improving performance with an innovative locking system, it allows our siding to withstand winds of up to 180 mph—a must-have for homeowners along the New England coast. With the ability to withstand high winds, the siding stays securely in place during hurricane-force winds while continuously protecting the home. If the panels are knocked loose, the exterior is exposed and can become damaged by moisture and airborne debris.

Reason #4: By using insulated siding panels, homeowners can experience a more comfortable home. The insulation helps block air cavities where warm or cold air become trapped, which directly impacts energy bills. According to the Federal Trade Commission, homeowners can experience around 5% energy savings by installed insulated siding panels.
