Autumn is here! Crisp mornings, warms soups on the stove, pumpkins dotting front porches, and leaves putting on a magnificent show. This week we’re celebrating all this season has to offer and we’re bringing autumn’s sweet and plentiful bounty indoors.
For a fall look that will last through Thanksgiving we’re decorating with neutrals. White pumpkins are a favorite of ours as they are simple to create and can be added to your existing décor. To paint your pumpkins pick up some acrylic paint. A few coats may be needed, but you can always use a hair dryer to speed drying time!
For those who want a little more glam, add sparkles! Sparkles can be added while your paint is still wet. Want to take your project a step further? Give your pumpkins a fairytale look with sparkly pipe cleaner and/or floral stems from your local craft store. Use a hot glue gun to adhere all of your sparkly extras.
If you’ve been following our blog you know how much we love repurposed chalkboards!
Pick up a vintage frame from the Pettengill Farm’s upcoming Vintage Bazaar and frame a chalkboard with it. Chalkboards can be added anywhere around your home. Change up your message from time to time and add an entertaining message if you’re hosting a get-together.
Finally, fully embrace this season by filling your home with autumn’s most delicious aromas.
You’ll need:
½ gallon apple cider
3 cinnamon sticks
1 cup canned pumpkin
1 tablespoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon whole cloves
Directions
Fill a saucepan ¾ full with apple cider. Mix in cinnamon sticks, pumpkin, vanilla extract, nutmeg, and whole cloves. Bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce to low heat. When the mixture gets low, add more apple cider or water if necessary.
Until next week, we’re bundling up in warm scarves and lacing up our favorite boots. In the meantime, share with us your favorite autumn projects!
